20th Anniversary Testimonies

At Anniversary Prayer Night, my 12-year-old daughter received individual prayer. Her prayer request was that she wanted to hear God's voice. When she was prayed for, she began speaking in tongues for the very first time in her life!

Be Still!

Dear friend,

What comes to your mind when you hear the words “Be still”? I dare say it paints a picture of an individual who has been overly busy in preparation for an oncoming event, or maybe involved in a challenging situation that evokes some level of anxiety due to the uncertainty regarding it’s outcome. The command to be still therefore seeks to calm the troubled breast of such an individual, and allow them to face life with the knowledge and assurance that there is a God who not only cares, but is also in control.

Psalm 46:10 declares Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!. You may be that individual facing a challenge at this time and so this scripture should be a source of reassurance to you. The Lord is speaking to you by His Holy Spirit, if you are a child of God to take some time out to reflect on His greatness and omnipotence. As you shift your attention from the challenge you face, to the One who alone is Almighty, you will experience a relief from any burden it imposes on you. Remember, God wants to give you an immense testimony that will exalt His name in your life and circle of influence. I therefore implore you to be intentional about shifting your focus from any challenges or problems, to the Lord who is our burden carrier.

The Lord has been faithful to His word in giving us the privilege to step into the 2nd quarter of the year and for this we must be thankful. As a parishioner, and even a non-parishioner reading this newsletter, I want to pose an important question to you which is “ Do you have a God-given vision for your life? “ If you do, how is this vision unfolding with the passage of the year. Perhaps you do not have one, and if so I want to encourage you to seek the face of the Lord, as a vision will help you stay focused in an ever bustling world with so many distractions.

The church celebrated the Lord’s resurrection several weeks ago and during this quarter we continue to harp on building intimacy with Him in the place of prayer, word study and fellowship. We look forward to our annual cook out on June 29th, 2024 and invite you to clear your calendar for a fun-filled day on the church premises. There will be lots of activities to engage the children, and it will be a great opportunity to get to know our neighbours.

Lastly, as we watch the unfolding events in the middle East we encourage you as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ not to fret, but rather to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and a limitation of collateral damages to life and property resulting from this regional conflict. It is incumbent on us as believers to intercede for the nation of Israel, as God has a very important role for her in these last days.

Remember to take some time out each day to reflect on the goodness, grace and matchless power of our God. As you do so, you will become more aware of God’s presence and learn to be still before Him.

Yours in His vineyard

Shalom
